A River Out of Time — Creative Direction Across Borders
A River Out of Time is a cinematic reflection on the fragile balance between development and cultural survival along Indonesia’s Kayan River.
As co-producer and creative director, I helped shape this project from concept to release — partnering with Managing Editor Kate Beddall and award-winning director Roger Richards to tell a story grounded in environmental urgency and human dignity.
My role included story development, producing, editorial oversight, research, contract coordination, field team management and multilingual post-production across multiple time zones. Released in both English and Bahasa Indonesian on World Rainforest Day 2025, the film was showcased (screened) at multiple international environmental festivals.
Blending documentary fieldwork with emotional storytelling, A River Out of Time elevates local voices to global audiences — examining what it means to dam a river, displace a way of life and redefine progress in the name of sustainability.
